Go Green Challenge: Utah Campus Hosted E-Cycling Fair in April
As part of Apollo’s Go Green Challenge, the Utah Campus sponsored an electronic waste recycling (or “e-cycling”) week during April. The opportunity was given to staff and students for the campus to pay for properly disposing of the electronic waste collected during the week. In Utah it is illegal to dispose of electronic equipment in landfills, since they contain high amounts of pollutants.
The Utah Campus partnered with Guaranteed Recycling Xperts (GRX) to completely disassemble and properly recycle the donations. The e-cycling fair resulted in the donation of 77 computers, 68 keyboards, 16 monitors, 12 VCRs, 8 cell phones, 3 printers, 2 microwaves and more, which also garnered positive local media coverage.
