Our Commitment: Work in Progress

The Apollo Work Life Council Acting on Your Feedback

As a part of the Green Initiative, the Work Life Council is currently researching the viability and appropriateness of telecommuting for the Apollo work culture. Since not all jobs will be conducive to a telecommuting work environment, the Council will be evaluating job descriptions and conducting surveys to determine the suitability between those job duties and telecommuting.

FSC-Certified Paper and Print Products

Forest Stewardship Council-certification logo

At Apollo Group, we are constantly looking for ways to be environmentally responsible in every aspect of our business. We support sustainable business practices by using recycled paper -- certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) – whenever possible on our marketing publications. Many of our marketing publications and products will soon proudly display the FSC-certification logo.

Forest Stewardship Council standards are the world’s strongest system for helping implement sustainable forest management practices. In purchasing FSC-certified paper and print products, we are contributing to ecosystem conservation and responsible forest management, and helping provide community-level benefits for people living near the forests that provide our paper.

University of Phoenix Upgrades to Green Kitchen Products

For University of Phoenix, quenching your thirst just got a lot more eco-friendly. Taking proactive steps to become more environmentally friendly, the company is now using new green kitchen products. The Nexclear Clear Polypropylene cup is a plastic cup made with 20 percent less plastic and is completely recyclable. Manufactured in America, these fresh cups will reduce the company’s plastic usage in Phoenix by 35-40 cases a month!

Additionally, University of Phoenix will switch to PCF paper cups, the first ever FDA-compliant paper hot cup. Made with 90 percent renewable resources and 10 percent post consumer recycled fiber, these cups are also completely recyclable and you don’t even need a java jacket. These new green products are just one more step to becoming a green company.

Printed Materials Going Green

In support of the company’s green practices, University of Phoenix is currently working on biodegradable printed materials. Teaming with Prisma Graphics, its printed materials supplier, University of Phoenix will be implementing green printing. The transition from standard to green products will decrease all costs by 2 percent. Raising awareness about University of Phoenix’s environmental initiatives, the company is also working with Prisma Graphics to place Go Green logos and/or watermarks on all of its printed materials such as business cards and envelopes. Each effort helps change the culture and overall environmental impact of the University.
