How We Salute Those Who Serve

Volunteer this month in honor of Memorial Day!

There are many ways to honor those who served, especially by volunteering at a military organization during our month-long tribute to our Nation’s Military heroes! We encourage all employees to visit VolunteerMatch to learn about volunteering opportunities at military organizations in your area! If you aren’t an employee, take a look at the information below to learn how you can volunteer in your area!

Be a Part of Roll Call at the National Cemetery

On May 16 (Armed Forces Day) as part of the Memorial Day Observance, the National Cemeteries at Fort Bayard, N.M, Dallas-Fort Worth, TX and Riverside, CA will do a roll call of every military Veteran interred at these National Cemeteries. Volunteers are needed to take turns reading names for one hour at each of these locations. Further information may be obtained at 951-653-8417.

Volunteer at the USO

The USO, United Service Organizations, has been in operation for 67 years. With locations both in the US and overseas, they are constantly looking for volunteers to help. Visit the following link to learn about ways you can help at the USO: http://www.uso.org/whoweare/findyourlocaluso/

Benefited non-profits for Phoenix proceeds:

The Salute a Soldier Foundation:

The Salute a Soldier Foundation is a non-profit organization that provides financial and emotional assistance to the severely injured veterans, many of whom don’t receive the sufficient financial support they need to survive. The Foundation assists Veterans in areas such as financial support for medical treatment, medical mobility such as wheel chairs, financial support for their families and more.

While this is an Arizona based organization, these veterans are not all from Arizona. Many of them grew up in your campus towns and many of them travel to facilities across the country for medical treatment. The funds raised will not only help veterans financially, but it will show our support and gratitude to them for putting their lives on the line for our freedom.

Here are just some examples of how our 2008 Salute a Soldier Wristband Fundraiser has helped those who protected and served:
