Over 140 years ago, General John Logan proclaimed Memorial Day as a day of remembrance for those who fought for our nation. The last Monday in May traditionally marks the time when Americans nationwide pay tribute to our military heroes. Join with your University of Phoenix family this May for a month-long tribute to our nation’s military heroes.
Salute our military’s heroes any of the following ways:
- American Flags – Purchase an American Flag to be placed in the tribute area near you for $5 and participate in Jeans Week from May 18-May 22*. Contact your location or department champion or email community@phoenix.edu for details on purchasing your flags.
- Phoenix proceeds will go to The USO and Salute a Soldier Foundation.
- Campus proceeds will go to a local military charity of their choice–location champions will provide details.
- Memorial Day Virtual Tribute Wall – Pay tribute to an American hero by signing the Memorial Day Virtual Tribute Wall.
- Cell Phones for Soldiers – Your old technology could be a troop’s treasure! Beginning May 25, in partnership with AT&T and Cell Phones for Soldiers, donate your used cell phones or wireless devices to drop box locations company-wide. Your used technology will provide troops with calling cards to call home! Contact your campus or location champion for details on your nearest drop box location.
They fought for us, let us honor them! For questions, please email community@phoenix.edu.
*The tribute area and Jeans Week is up to the discretion of your campus or department location. Please watch for further details from your location champion.
